A delicious big crush for Philippe Tayac’s Pastries

There are addresses that you hear about again and again, that you keep in the back of your mind without really knowing why. Addresses that you make a note of, that you promise yourself you’ll try out… and then the months go by, sometimes even the years. And when several people, at different times, tell you about the same place, you end up saying to yourself that maybe it’s a sign. That’s exactly what happened with Philippe Tayac’s pastries.

To be honest, I had already discovered his desserts during a dinner at NESPO in July 2020. Despite this, I had never set foot in one of his shops until November 2025. For two years, I was regularly told about it, I’d walk past the front without really stopping, and above all… I’d see his posts on the networks: pastries gilded to perfection, highlighted by photos that make you want to run across town. And then one day, for no particular reason, it just clicked. It was the right moment, and I went to Philippe Tayac in Nice.

As soon as I walked through the door of the shop in Nice, I literally melted in front of the display of Viennese pastries. I had this instant thought: “Damn, I wish I’d been here sooner! (lol) However, if you follow my blog or Instagram, you’ll know just how much I’ve been scouring the food scene over the last few years – although I have to admit that I’ve slowed down quite a bit in recent months. Japanese restaurants, coffee shops, brunch in Nice… my ‘food’ section is pretty well stocked on this blog. So this November, I’ve decided to go back to my old ways: indulge myself, discover new places, not for the blog, not for Insta… just for me. It seems that this long break did me a lot of good, as I had absolutely no expectations.

A warm welcome and a really neat decor

The first thing that struck me were the perfectly aligned pastries, right in front of the window, which immediately caught the eye and of course all the food lovers. I immediately thought of Maison Céline in Nice, which plays a similar card and always has the same effect on me. But at Philippe Tayac‘s, there’s something more sophisticated about the decor: it’s elegant, modern, but with a real personality. Nothing seems to be left to chance.

And above all, the welcome… A real ray of sunshine. A special mention to Sania, the manager, who instantly puts you at ease. Her knowledge of the products is astonishing and she immediately knew how to advise me by asking me the right questions : “First of all, do you like coffee?” haha – Honestly, for that alone, it’s a 10/10.

On the menu

I started with a salmon bagel. I asked for it hot, and I was right to do so: the poppy bread became crispy, the topping was generous, and everything came together perfectly.

Then I hesitated for a long time (thanks to the team for their legendary patience lool) before choosing the espresso tart. And what a great idea! The flavours really come together: the sweetness of the cream, the bitterness of the coffee, the contrast between the crunch of the biscuit and the airy smoothness of the cream… A real pleasure.

And of course, because I never do things by halves, I finished with a slice of raisin bread. Re-belote: ten minutes of hesitation, zero regrets. The puff pastry is light, the crème pâtissière well measured out and the flavour perfectly balanced.

You can feel that behind each creation, there is precision, high standards… and above all a lot of passion.

A wonderful experience at Philippe Tayac in Nice

Compared to my everyday addresses, this is without a doubt a real favourite. More than just a gourmet break, it’s an experience in its own right. At Philippe Tayac, you don’t just come for a croissant, you come to experience something unique and special.

So if you’re looking for an address where you can enjoy both sweet and savoury treats while having a real moment, I heartily recommend Philippe Tayac‘s shop in Nice.
