Wine Cellar in Nice: Discovering Pinot & Chardo through a delightful tasting session

A few weeks ago, we enjoyed a wonderful culinary experience at the Nice-based wine shop Pinot et Chardo during an aperitif tasting organised by Gusta Nissa. It was an evening all about sharing, delightful discoveries and perfectly executed food and wine pairings. As soon as my friend and I arrived, we were charmed by the atmosphere of the place. A warm, elegant and intimate wine cellar in Nice, where you immediately want to settle in and enjoy the moment. To be honest, I’m not a regular at wine cellars; the only ones I’ve had the chance to visit in Nice are La Cave du Cours in Old Nice and the unbeatable Part des Anges. But as they say, good things come in threes, and Pinot & Chardo completes the BIG 3. With its carefully selected bottles and friendly atmosphere, this new spot is a wonderful find.

A passionate and welcoming wine merchant

The experience began with a warm welcome from Dorian, the owner. Before presenting the wines we were lucky enough to taste, the owner’s energy made the experience even more enjoyable. Passionate about wine and champagne, he shared his world with us with great generosity and simplicity. Each tasting was described with passion, without ever becoming too technical – or perhaps just a little bit, haha. You can sense that here, the aim is above all to convey an emotion and to create a wine cellar specialising in Pinot and Chardonnay.

On the evening menu for this lovely tasting

Champagne aperitif served with brie and bread

The evening began with a superb discovery: a particularly elegant Bouzy Blanc de Blancs champagne. Delicate, mineral and very well-balanced, it won us over immediately.

To accompany this tasting, Dorian selected high-quality products that pair perfectly with the champagne:

  • an exceptional Brie from La Pêche à la Vigne
  • oyster bread from Pompom
  • more traditional country bread

I’d already had the chance to try Pêche à la Vigne’s products, which I can’t recommend highly enough. So when Dorian told us the Brie came from there, I was absolutely delighted. On the other hand, I’d never had the chance to try Pompom’s products before – and what a surprise! The olive oil bread was simply to die for. It made us even more keen to pop in and have a look.

Plain white wine served with a lemon meringue puff

We then discovered an absolutely smooth, unadulterated white wine. To accompany it, Dorian presented us with a lovely creation from Pistache. And once again, the pairing was perfect: a lemon meringue puff from Pistache. We absolutely loved it. The whole thing was fresh, light and very refined. The sort of dessert you remember long after you’ve finished it.

An authentic and, above all, personal tasting experience

Beyond the products, we particularly appreciated the atmosphere of the evening. Everything flowed smoothly; it was warm and genuine. No stiff or overly formal tasting, but a genuine moment of sharing over some wonderful culinary discoveries. And let’s be honest, the cellar is lovely. It’s exactly the sort of place we love to visit in Nice to spend time with friends over a good glass of wine. It’s also the perfect spot to enjoy a fine Chartreuse!

In short, we left feeling a bit tipsy, having made some lovely discoveries, found a few favourites, and above all, eager to return very soon to discover other gems selected by Dorian. Final word: I absolutely recommend this superb wine cellar in Nice to all of you who love wine, champagne, Chartreuse and wonderful gourmet experiences.
