My 5 favourite private beaches in Nice for making the most of the summer

plage privée nice

If there’s one thing I love doing in the height of summer, it’s treating myself to a day on a private beach in Nice. With its turquoise sea, comfortable sun loungers, lunches with your feet in the pebbles and lively evenings, I think this is the best way to enjoy the Côte d’Azur. Whether you’re looking for a chic, festive or more intimate atmosphere, Nice is brimming with spots that are definitely worth a visit.

A quick tip: I strongly recommend booking during the high season, as the sun loungers (especially those right on the beachfront) get snapped up very quickly. To do this, you can use the MySunBed service , a very handy platform that lists numerous private beaches on the Côte d’Azur and offers a booking service.

Here are my five favourite private beaches in Nice:

1. Castel Plage: the must-visit spot at the foot of the Château hill

Its impossible to talk about Nice’sprivate beaches without mentioning Castel Plage. In my opinion, it’s the beach that offers one of the most beautiful views of Nice. Situated right at the foot of the Château hill, it offers a magnificent panorama of the Mediterranean Sea, which stretches along the entire length of the city of Nice, whilst being slightly removed from the hustle and bustle of the Promenade des Anglais.

What I love most about this beach is that it’s set apart from the others. It’s at the far end of the beach, near the rocks. This proximity gives the sea a turquoise, almost translucent blue colour. People come here just as much to spend a day in the sun as to enjoy high-quality Mediterranean cuisine overlooking the sea.

Practical information:

  • Sun lounger price: €30 for half a day or €35 for a full day (parasol included).
  • Restaurant: Yes.
  • DJ: No, the atmosphere remains fairly calm and sophisticated.

It’s clearly the ideal spot for anyone looking for a relaxing day out in an exceptional setting.

2. Bocca Mar : my favourite beach for its atmosphere

If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll no doubt know that Bocca Mar is one of my absolute favourites in Nice. I’m already a big fan of Bocca Nissa in Old Nice, so it’s only natural that I’m a fan of its private beach too.

As soon as you arrive, you almost feel as though you’re on holiday in Ibiza or Mykonos, thanks to the wooden décor, plants, natural materials and Mediterranean colour scheme. The décor is very similar to that of the Bocca Nissa restaurant. The restaurant serves home-cooked food made with fresh produce, and the service is really friendly.

But what really sets it apart is the evening atmosphere. From Thursday onwards, DJs and live music take centre stage, completely transforming the venue without going over the top.

Practical information:

  • Sun lounger price: €30 on the front row, €20 on other rows.
  • Restaurant: Yes.
  • DJ: Yes, several lively evenings are organised throughout the week.

In my opinion, it’s one of the best private beaches to spend the whole day at… and end up only leaving after dinner.

3. Plage Amour : a bohemian and laid-back atmosphere

Plage Amour has a character all of its own. In Nice, we all know the Hôtel Amour. For the past six years now, Plage Amour has been open to everyone. As soon as you walk in, you’re greeted by that boho-chic vibe for which the Amour group is renowned.

I particularly like the fact that it’s more laid-back than some of Nice’s other private beaches. You quickly feel at ease here, whether you’re having a morning coffee, lunch overlooking the sea or winding down the evening with a cocktail.

There’s a regular programme of music throughout the summer, with several guest DJs coming to liven up the evenings.

Practical information:

  • Sun lounger price: from around €35 per day.
  • Restaurant: Yes.
  • DJ: Yes, depending on the evenings and events organised.

It’s a great spot if you like trendy places without it being too ‘flashy’.

4. Beau Rivage : the perfect balance

Beau Rivage has been a firm favourite for many years and is well known to everyone in Nice.

I really like this beach for its balance. It’s just as suitable for couples as it is for friends or families. The facilities are very comfortable, the food is well prepared and the atmosphere changes gently as the day goes on.

In the evenings, some musical events are organised during the summer season, but the atmosphere remains generally elegant.

Practical information:

  • Sun lounger price: from around €35 depending on location.
  • Restaurant: Yes.
  • DJ: Yes, on certain evenings.

It’s a private beach that appeals to a wide audience, and it’s easy to see why. Beau Rivage Beach, Nice

5. Le Galet : a sure bet on the Promenade des Anglais

To round off this selection, I wanted to tell you about Le Galet. This private beach enjoys an ideal location right in the heart of the Promenade des Anglais. It offers generous Mediterranean cuisine, welcoming staff and a friendly atmosphere.

Practical information:

  • Sun lounger price: from around €30 to €35 depending on the season.
  • Restaurant: Yes.
  • DJ: A few music nights are held during the summer.

If you’re visiting Nice for the first time, this is an excellent choice that combines location, comfort and quality of service.

So, would you prefer the chic atmosphere at Le Castel, the party vibe at Bocca Mar or the bohemian feel at Plage Amour? One thing’s for sure: in Nice, there’s a private beach to suit every taste.
