If you’re looking for a place this summer where you can spend some quality time with family or friends over good food with your feet in the sand… well on the pebbles haha, then here’s the nugget I tried out recently: Bocca Mar. Well, there’s clearly no shortage of private beaches in Nice and the French Riviera, and it’s not always easy to identify the good spots. So I’m sharing with you this private beach to try out in Nice, which is already causing quite a stir.
Opened in May 2023 by Jean Valfort and the Panorama Group, already known for the incredible rooftop Bocca Nissa, this new place combines a private beach, a Mediterranean restaurant and a festive atmosphere.
A holiday atmosphere
As soon as I arrived, I was charmed by the atmosphere. Everything is so well thought out: wood, natural materials, touches of blue and white reminiscent of the Mediterranean… it’s simple, you’d think you were on holiday in Ibiza or Mykonos. There are even little bohemian corners, perfect for taking photos or just chilling out with a cocktail.

The private beach at Bocca Mar
The Bocca Mar private beach in Nice is a haven of peace right on the Promenade des Anglais. You’ll be seduced by the elegance of the layout, with a fine row of comfortable deckchairs in blue and white, harmoniously arranged on the pebbles. The vibe is both chic and relaxed, and it’s a great place to spend a relaxing day by the Mediterranean, with a good cocktail in hand. The service is top-notch and attentive.

The Bocca Mar restaurant
I discovered Bocca Mar when I went for dinner with my family and we were all won over, both by the quality of the dishes and the service. It’s more or less the same concept as Bocca Nissa, where sharing comes first. Our favourites were the Iberian croquetas, the creamy burrata and the absolutely divine grilled octopus. The flavours are top-notch, and everything is homemade. And the best part: they work with fresh produce, often local. In short, it’s good, it’s simple and it’s sunny.

In the evening: it’s time to party!
If you think Bocca Mar is all about the aperitif, think again. From Thursday evening onwards, it becomes the place to go out. On the menu: DJs, live music, a chic campfire atmosphere… It’s a really cool atmosphere, with no frills, and the staff are very attentive.
