Vieux-Nice is full of superb restaurants and coffee shops… But if you look closely, you won’t find as many brunch addresses as you might think. The best brunch spots in Nice are to be found outside Vieux-Nice. I’m thinking in particular of Café Fino Nice, la Popote d’Ondine, le Garden Café Nice, la 36ème chambre, Clay..
But let me reassure you, for those who want to enjoy the warm and friendly atmosphere of the old town, there are still some superb brunch addresses to be found on the fingers of one hand.
I’ve listed 4 good brunch spots in Old town of Nice:
1. Maranna Brunch
This is undoubtedly the most popular brunch in Old Nice! Located in one of the many narrow streets in the old town, Maranna Brunch is a cosy, friendly café that serves a delicious brunch in a simple, minimalist setting. I’ve been to this place for brunch three times now and have always been satisfied. The service and welcome are top notch!
On the menu, you’ll find classics like wholemeal bread with avocado, fried eggs and creamy scrambled eggs, as well as more original dishes depending on the season. You can try homemade pancakes with fresh fruit and maple syrup, or a fresh salad with seasonal vegetables and cheese. For those with a sweet tooth, homemade cakes and refreshing smoothies are always available.
A special mention must go to the crab roll, one of the house specialities, made from brioche bread topped with crabmeat, prawns, homemade mayonnaise, shallots, chives and paprika.
The prices are reasonable: you should expect to pay around €18-22 for a full brunch, drinks included. Their selection of coffees and teas is also excellent.
Please note that they do not take reservations. First come, first served!
Address: 31 Rue Benoît Bunico, 06300 Nice

2. Hobo Café
Another superb brunch restaurant located 100 metres from the famous Place Rossetti, with a cosy ski chalet-style decor.
The menu changes a little with the seasons, but you’ll always find a great selection of both sweet and savoury dishes, using fresh, quality produce.
On the brunch menu, you can expect crusty croissants and pains au chocolat, avocado toast with poached eggs, generous pancakes with fresh fruit and maple syrup, not forgetting a seasonal salad with fresh vegetables. If you’re more of a savoury person, they’ve also got scrambled eggs, charcuterie and cheese. And for drinks, you can choose between homemade smoothies or a nice fresh juice.
Prices are around €20-25 for a full brunch, drinks included.

3. Café Marché
The café marché is a superb – if discreet – address behind the cour saleya. It is located at 2, rue Barillerie, in Vieux Nice and is a must for brunch lovers. This cosy little restaurant, with its old-fashioned charm, Formica furniture and welcoming terrace, serves tasty home cooking. I found it to be the healthiest brunch in town, with the best local produce, both bread and charcuterie.
Brunch formulas range from €12 to €18, depending on your appetite.
The menu changes regularly, reflecting seasonal produce and market finds. You can expect dishes such as eggs Benedict, fluffy pancakes, fresh salads and gourmet burgers. Vegetarian options are not to be outdone, with tasty and well-balanced offerings.

4. Marinette
Marinette is a pretty café located in the heart of Vieux Nice, at 13, rue Colonna d’Istria. Renowned for its friendly atmosphere and superb decor with hanging wicker lamps and mini rooftop, it’s the perfect place to enjoy a delicious brunch.
The menu offers a variety of sweet and savoury dishes, all prepared with fresh, quality ingredients. Must-tries include fluffy pancakes, refreshing smoothie bowls, crispy granola and boiled eggs with sweet potato fries. For lovers of more substantial flavours, the Marinette burger with truffled brie is a tasty option.
As for pastries, home-made creations such as gluten-free chocolate cake, lemon cake and cinnamon rolls will delight food lovers.
Brunch is available at €14.50 per person, offering excellent value for money.
