There are no Asian districts in Nice and the surrounding towns, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t excellent Asian restaurants! In addition to the Mediterranean restaurants, vegetarian restaurants and Japanese restaurants in Nice… this time we are going to discover another more exotic and tasty Asian cuisine. Head for the Pink Lotus at the Marina de Villeneuve Loubet. On a personal note, this is my number one Asian restaurant in the French Riviera.
1. The Pink Lotus menu
The restaurant offers a rich and varied menu where you can discover Thai, Vietnamese and Chinese cuisine.
- As a starter, I love Thai soups, which offer an explosion of flavours on the palate. I am thinking in particular of the lemongrass and shrimp soup, Tom Yam Goong, or the chicken soup with lemongrass and coconut milk, Tom Yam Kaikai, a real delight that warms up in this winter period. Still as a starter, the bite-sized vapours are excellent. Accompanied by a small sauce and mixed with fried onions and coriander, a real treat.
- For the main course, I can’t get enough of the chicken chow mein or chicken noodles. That barbecue aftertaste won me over. But although all the dishes are really excellent, here is a list of favourites:
- Cashew chicken
- Chicken/shrimp sautéed with bamboo and 3 mushrooms
- Chicken in Red Curry
- Garlic shrimp
- For dessert, we leave room for coconut balls and why not a little mochi.
2. The Pink Lotus service
Until 2022, the service was clearly not the strong point. The previous owner was not necessarily the most jovial and the service was very slow. These were the main points that stood out in the negative reviews on Google. Since then, a new management team has taken over following the departure of the previous owners. She has kept the same dishes and recipes that made the restaurant so successful. Fortunately!
Since then, the service is much faster and the new owner is more pleasant and smiling. The decoration is always so “kitsch” but at the same time, one gets used to it and it is what makes the charm of the place 🙂
3. Location
The restaurant is located in the port of the marina on the Croisette andré minangoy just next to the restaurant le RDV Gourmand.
4. Parking
It is quite difficult to park in the Marina harbour during rush hour. Don’t worry, you can park 300m from the restaurant at the Fighière car park. There is also a street parallel to the port where you can find space.
5. Timetable
The restaurant is open every day (except Wednesday) from 11:45 to 13:45 and from 18:45 to 21:45.
Don’t forget to book by telephone on 0493224463. The weekend is almost always full!
It is possible to order take-away.
