With its sunny climate and Mediterranean atmosphere, Nice is without doubt the perfect city for a stroll, whether by the sea or in the narrow streets of old Nice. And what could be better than to accompany this stroll with a good speciality coffee? While I used to swear by hot chocolate or tea, I’ve changed my tune and started to develop a taste for coffee, and flat white in particular, since my stay in London, where the coffee shop culture is already well established. If you’re a fan of roasted coffee like me, here are my favourite coffee shops in Nice for the quality of their coffee but also for the vibe and the intimacy of the place:
1. La Claque Café
-
- Address: 1 Rue de l’Ancien Sénat, 06300 Nice
- Located in Vieux-Nice, La Claque Café is clearly a reference in its field, with a team who are ultra-passionate about coffee and who share it with us with love. Added to that, their cakes are just too EXCELLENT! 2 slices of cake for 5€, a real treat. Finally, I also love the London-style coffee shop atmosphere and the rock music! What a treat!
2. Brume Coffee Nice
-
- Address: 34 Rue Pairolière, 06300 Nice
- Staying in Old Nice, I’d like to introduce you to Brume Coffee Nice, which is one of my favourites for several reasons. Firstly, their coffee is really good quality, but I also love the atmosphere of this little coffee shop with its beautiful wooden decor and plants everywhere, and a touch of finesse with its beautiful recipe books. Their cakes are also excellent!
3. Maison Karlie
-
- Address: 36 Rue Pastorelli, 06000 Nice
-
- A new coffee shop opened in 2024 right in the centre of Nice. The coffee is as good as ever, but this time it’s accompanied by madeleines that are just too good! I’m not a big fan of madeleines, but this coffee shop changed my mind in a matter of seconds.
4. Atelier Selah
-
- Address: 23 Rue de Dijon, 06000 Nice
- Otherwise known as the flower café! Let’s leave the centre of Nice and head for the Libération district. I really fell in love with this ultra-cosy café, with its refined decor based on dried flowers and its overly peaceful and chill playlist. In fact, I shazamed a whole bunch of music in this place. Really, it’s the ideal place to read and relax. The coffee is excellent, as is the patisserie. I particularly love how they innovate their menu!
5. Frisson
-
- Address: 8 rue Francis Gallo, 06300 Nice
- We’re heading back to old Nice to meet up with our Parisian friends who opened this superb coffee shop in May 2024! This time round, the atmosphere is more urban, with an emphasis on culture, with exhibitions by local artists, t-shirts, designer decorations and more. Their coffee and pastries are top-notch! But what I love most is the energy and vibe that this coffee shop exudes. I love the way it stands out from other coffee shops and the way it asserts its own identity. Not always easy in a city like Nice!
6. Savva
-
- Address: 105 Rue de France, 06000 Nice
- Not as well known as the other coffee shops, but they serve great coffee and superb pastries and cakes! Unlike the other coffee shops in Nice, this is really a passing coffee shop, as you can’t sit down. So, if you’re in a hurry and a takeaway is all you need, I recommend this coffee shop.
I’d like to add a special mention for the little coffee shop in the Port of Nice, “Canopée”, which unfortunately closed in February 2025, but which was just too stylish!
And what are your favourite places to have a good coffee in Nice?
