Eating and drinking good wine is a real religion here in Nice! But be careful, not to eat just anything, anywhere. Here, we are not talking about fast and efficient “street food” like at René Socca which proposes excellent Nice specialities in the Vieux-Nice, here I am talking about real restaurants which propose a cuisine worked with fresh and local products. And for that, the restaurants in Nice know how to do it! Even if the restaurants in Antibes also have a good reputation with the incredible le p’tit cageot restaurant. From now on, I swear by Mediterranean and Italian cuisine (although I have a weakness for Japanese restaurants in Nice and for south american food with ICO restaurant).
I have therefore concocted a list of my favourite Mediterranean restaurants that might interest you. The list is not exhaustive and other selections are to come on the site 🙂

1. Yose
Among the restaurants in Nice, here is one that is out of the ordinary! It is attractive because of its atypical cuisine and its South American inspired setting. Indeed, Yose, which is part of the Michelin Guide, proposes an original fusion between Peruvian and Mediterranean cuisine and I can tell you it is worth the diversions! Located in one of the most lively areas of Nice (100m from the Place du Pin), Yose invites us to Peru for an evening to taste traditional dishes such as ceviche. The decoration is modern and very warm, the atmosphere is friendly, you feel good.
For my part, I had taken a ceviche Cause Limena based on prawns, rocoto sauce and guacamole and a pavlova for dessert based on meringue and coconut ice cream, but what a delight!

2. Le Tire Bouchon
A very nice restaurant in the heart of Vieux-Nice, a district not to be missed on the French Riviera. Le Tire-Bouchon offers refined, home-made bistronomic cuisine. The restaurant stands out because of its menu, which offers two types of menu: either you take a dish, or you take dishes in the form of a starter, which is cheaper than the dish itself. The aim is that everyone can taste everything without breaking the bank. All this in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
For my part, curious as we are, we decided to order 4 dishes in starter format precisely to be able to taste a maximum of things. We opted for the perfect egg, French scallops, the pork cheek confit and the chicken supreme. All served with a good glass of white wine. I had the time of my life, the products are fresh and beautifully cooked.

3. Amour Hotel in Nice
Amour Hotel in Nice needs no introduction! Initially located in Paris, the hotel decided to move to the French Riviera to the delight of the people of Nice. In summer, the hotel opens its private beach which is part of the most famous private beaches of the French Riviera. It’s the ideal spot to dine in love, with friends or family. The restaurant offers a very good Greek Mediterranean cuisine. The decoration is really nice, both modern and vintage. Hotel amour has clearly become the place to be in Nice.
I love the sheep’s cheese, the grilled halloumi, the tzaziki and many other things.

4. Lavomatique (UPTDATE)
This former laundry transformed into a bistro restaurant has long been my favourite but it’s NOT ANYMORE Over the last 2 years, the prices have increased by almost twofold for the same quatity. I can understand prices can increased by 1 or 2 euros but, here it has became unaffordable.
Nevertheless, If you want to try this place, it’s located in the heart of the old town of Nice, 100 metres from Place Rossetti, the restaurant offers dishes to share in a warm and friendly atmosphere. The products are fresh and refined. As the restaurant has only 30 seats (tables and counters), places are expensive. So remember to make a reservation.

5. Le Bocca Nissa
I think this one was my biggest crush… as much for its cuisine, its interior decoration and its rooftop. I discovered it in the summer of 2020 and I was really impressed by the place and the dishes. Like the Amour hotel, you can find dishes to share in a summer atmosphere on the rooftop, which is 100% vegetal, and in a warm atmosphere indoors during the winter season.
For my part, we opted for the fritto misto, the extra pig and the fried artichokes, it was a delight, let alone the extra pig! My taste buds still remember it.

6. Le comptoir du marché
One of my favourite restaurants in the old Nice located in the famous rue du Marché ! The room is warm and friendly with a bistro atmosphere with counter, lights and woodwork. But as it’s always full, I always find myself on the terrace, plaids included, in case of cool weather. The products are fresh from the market, as the name of the restaurant suggests. The dishes are Mediterranean, inspired by Italian and French cuisine.
The last time I went, I enjoyed polenta and pig’s cheek served in a mini casserole. The vegetables were beautifully cooked. All served with a nice glass of sauvignon.

7. Le Canon
A Michelin Guide restaurant located in the heart of Nice in the Golden Square. Moreover, they had the right to a small article published in the New York Times, the class!
At their place, no menu, no menu… But a slate that changes with the seasons. The Canon offers bistro-style dishes with fresh produce supplied the same day. Because the quality of a dish lies above all in the ingredients, the dishes are prepared with local products (seasonal vegetables, meat, fish and fruit). The wine list offers only natural wines. The dining room is simple, small but warm. Don’t forget to book!
For my part, I had taken an Italian dish, the osso bucco based on veal served with fresh vegetables and a good glass of red wine, a real treat!

8. Chez Davia
Another great address for those who swear by Mediterranean cuisine prepared with fresh, local produce. Chez Davia, which is also in the Michelin guide, offers refined cuisine with seasonal products. Their menu changes every week as they adapt to market produce. The decoration is authentic and rustic in a retro bistro style with checked tablecloths and beams. A real favourite!

Restaurant in Nice: Chez Davia
9. Coba
Superb restaurant located in the most animated area of the city called “le petit marais Niçois” in reference to the “marais” in Paris. Located near the Place des Pins, a few steps away from the Jumalee Nice boutique, specialised in the creation of custom-made perfumes, the restaurant proposes Mediterranean dishes prepared with fresh and local products.
The place is really nice. I particularly liked the decoration with the warm terracotta walls and the vegetal plants. The atmosphere is authentic and warm whether at the bar, inside or on the terrace.

10. Daiki Daia
A small blow of heart also for this one among all the restaurants in Nice. Located on the Port of Nice, Daki Daia’s cuisine made me travel by its Mediterranean cuisine which reminds me of Greek, Lebanese and Turkish cuisine. Fresh, tasty and light, the restaurant proposes mezzes which is a set of dishes served simultaneously. The menu changes every three weeks to avoid falling into a routine. Always rich in inspiration and creativity, Daiki Daia will transport you like never before through their tasty cuisine.
