If there’s one place that caught my eye in the last few months before I left for London, it’s the lovely bookshop and café “un moment chez Mémé” in Mougins. It’s a place that stands out for its selection of quality books, its ultra-cozy, soft and calm terrace, its homemade gourmet snacks, and its very pleasant and friendly staff… In short, so many positive points that make this place a real haven of peace away from the hustle and bustle of Nice and the seaside
1. An independent general bookshop
Un moment chez Mémé is first and foremost an independent bookshop with over 5,000 titles. Its aim is to make reading more accessible and more enjoyable. The bookshop has a number of nooks and crannies, both indoors and outdoors, so you can make the most of your reading time. If you can’t find a book you’re looking for? Don’t worry, you can get in touch directly with the booksellers who will be on hand to advise you
2. An ultra peaceful terrace
Without doubt, one of the most pleasant places in the bookshop. The setting is simply ultra cosy, calm and ‘peaceful’ as I like to say. I don’t think I’ve found a better place to read than on the terrace ofGranny’s for a while. The place is surrounded by nature with a large garden, soups, apricot trees… The best thing is to sit on the outside lounges for greater comfort
3. A gourmet corner
You can spend some time at Granny’s for breakfast, lunch or a gourmet snack. We offer hot and cold drinks, home-made cakes and pastries made with local produce. Find the full menu HERE
The outdoor terrace is ideal for dining. The rattan and natural wood furniture will plunge you into a peaceful state. It reminds me a little of the 100% plant terrace at Bocca Nissa
4. A coworking space
You can bring your laptop and work directly from the bookshop or the terrace, with a good wifi connection. If you need to, you can also use a printer to print, scan or photocopy
To work from Chez Mémé, the rate is €5 an hour per person, minus your drinks if you’re having a drink and/or a pastry. So if you stay for 2 hours and have consumed €10 worth of drinks, you’ll only pay €10
Black and white prints cost 20 cts, colour prints 40 cts and scans 50 cts
5. Creative workshops
Un moment chez Mémé
organises literary, creative and artistic events to promote togetherness and creativity in all of us. Workshops that connect people together around a common interest
6. Pleasant and friendly staff
I found the staff very welcoming and smiling. They didn’t hesitate to come and see me to see if I had managed to connect to the WIFI. Thank you for your welcome 🙂
