Let’s go for the 4th edition of the Festival des Jardins de la Côte d’Azur 2023! This year, the festival will take place from 25 March to 1 May 2023. Launched for the first time in April 2017, this festival has since become an annual must-see event, just like the Fête du Citron in Menton.
At the same time, what other region than the French Riviera would be better placed to host this kind of event? It has all the necessary assets: ultra varied natural landscapes on the sea and on the mountains, an exceptional floral wealth with a variety of Mediterranean plants imported directly from South America, a clement weather… The French Riviera is the ideal place for all landscape designers!
1. Ephemeral garden competition
This year’s event highlights seventeen ephemeral gardens, each covering 200m2, which have been created by professional landscapers, artists, amateur gardeners and even students in their final year at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture et du Paysage. This year’s theme is “surprising perspectives”. 14 other gardens will also be presented out of competition.
These original creations will be offered free of charge in the various towns of the Côte d’Azur, from Cannes to Menton, via Antibes, Grasse, Nice, and even Tourette sur loup, one of the most beautiful villages on the French Riviera !
You will have an immersive experience where you can walk through the gardens and discover a wide variety of Mediterranean plants, flowers, trees and garden design elements. The gardens are often located in unique places in the region, such as parks, private estates, squares and picturesque streets, which adds to the appeal of the festival.
2. A rich and varied programme
In addition to the gardens, the Festival des Jardins de la Côte d’Azur also proposes a very complete programme with events and animations which will be proposed free of charge throughout the region.
There will be events such as conferences, creative workshops, exhibitions, guided tours and concerts. Everything is designed to provide a cultural and educational experience.
3. My favourite workshops
After going through the whole programme, some animations and workshops caught my eye 🙂 . I couldn’t do ALL of them but some of them might interest you:
