Mama Shelter Nice: a lovely find during an after-work get-together

Last June, I had the chance to visit Mama Shelter Nice at an after-work event organised by the southern French streetwear brand PNBT (Panbagnat). The invitation gave me the chance to explore the venue in a festive and friendly atmosphere, before continuing the evening with dinner at the restaurant.

I was already familiar with the Mama Shelter in Paris, so I was really curious to discover the one in Nice. And I must say, I rather fell in love with this one.

The décor sets the tone straight away

The first thing I liked on arriving was definitely the décor. Right from the entrance, you’re greeted by the instantly recognisable Mama Shelter style: colours, quirky objects, graphic details and plenty of personality. But I found the overall look particularly elegant in Nice. The restaurant is very pleasant, and I also really liked the patio with all its plants and terracotta colours. It’s the sort of place where you’d easily want to settle in for a drink and chat for hours. The atmosphere is both chic and relaxed, without being too stuffy. And it’s that blend that I appreciated the most.

A PNBT x Mama Shelter Nice after-work event

The event organised by PNBT was a great opportunity to experience Mama Shelter in a different way to simply coming for dinner. The brand and Mama Shelter Nice have, in fact, launched a joint T-shirt collection. The atmosphere was friendly, with that unique buzz you get at after-work events where people come as much to enjoy the venue as to meet people. And I found that Mama Shelter in Nice lends itself really well to this sort of event.

Between the restaurant, the patio and the various areas, there’s plenty to keep you going from a drink to a full evening’s entertainment. However, I didn’t get the chance to check out the swimming pool, so I’ll save that for next time!

My experience at the Mama Shelter restaurant in Nice

It wasn’t planned, but we made the most of it right to the end! After the after-work drinks, we decided to stay on for dinner at the Mama Shelter restaurant in Nice. As for the food, I thought the dishes were decent. It wasn’t necessarily what stood out most to me about the experience, but for a restaurant in Nice, the value for money is fairly reasonable for this sort of establishment. The prices seemed quite fair to me, especially when compared with some restaurants in Nice where the bill can quickly mount up. I also appreciated the service. The waiters were friendly and pleasant.

Mama Shelter Nice or Paris?

Having already tried the Mama Shelter in Paris, I’m naturally able to compare the two locations. And personally, I prefer the Mama Shelter in Nice. I think it’s mainly a question of atmosphere. I found the Nice branch brighter and more welcoming, particularly thanks to the patio and all the outdoor spaces.

In Paris, I’d felt the very urban side of the concept more strongly. In Nice, I found that the Mama Shelter vibe blended particularly well with the spirit of the city. And then there’s that little holiday feeling that you inevitably get more of in Nice!

I haven’t tried the swimming pool yet and I didn’t really have time to enjoy the rooftop as much as I’d have liked. So I’ll have to come back, as I think it deserves a place on my list of the best rooftops in Nice.

In any case, thanks to PNBT for this invitation, which gave me the chance to discover this place. Between the décor, the atmosphere, the patio and the restaurant, Mama Shelter Nice is definitely a place I can’t wait to return to for a lovely time with friends.
