Paddle Boarding at the Plage des Ondes Beach in Cap d’Antibes

There are many paddle spots on the French Riviera, each one as sublime as the next. Whether it’s in the Lérins Islands, the Villefranche bay or the Cap d’Antibes, you’ll be amazed whatever the location. But if there is THE SPOT in the region, I would definitely mention the Plage des ondes beach at Cap d’Antibes. Although there are a number of private beaches on the French Riviera, the Plage des ondes is a sandy beach, totally public, which offers many advantages when paddling.

plage des ondes

1. Incredible sunsets

Plage des Ondes is one of the beaches on the French Riviera with the best sunsets. It is therefore recommended to go there at the end of the day for a paddle and/or a picnic to enjoy the sublime view.

2. A flat and calm sea

The sea at Wave Beach is known to be calm and flat, much to the delight of paddlers. Whether it’s early morning, in the afternoon or at the end of the day, you will have a great time relaxing while paddling and admiring the beautiful villas. In addition to paddling, the Plage des ondes is the first beach of the Cap d’Antibes which also attracts all diving and snorkeling enthusiasts but also walkers. Indeed, the Cap d’Antibes is one of the most beautiful seaside walks on the French Riviera.

3. A sandy beach

Contrary to Nice which only offers pebble beaches, Cap d’Antibes, Juan les Pins and Cannes have the particularity to offer nice sandy beaches. For my part, even if the sand is more pleasant and comfortable, I got used to the pebbles that I find much more hygienic than the sand. La plage des Ondes beach is therefore a rather narrow sandy beach but so pleasant. There are showers and toilets if you need them.

4. The car park

I must admit that in summer it is quite difficult to park. As I said above, the Plage des ondes is THE spot on the French Rviera to watch the sunset while having a picnic or a paddle ride. To park, you have a few streets like chemin des ondes or chemin des nielles. If you plan to paddle, you should choose the chemin des nielles which is wider and more spaced out to prepare your board without obstructing the passage. Further down, you will find the Graillon car park, which offers a few parking spaces. In the off season, you will have no trouble finding a parking area.

5. Catering

There are no cafés or restaurants in the vicinity of the Plage des ondes beach. So plan a picnic and bring your snacks with you or order from a distance and have them delivered directly to the beach, what a pleasure!

6. Transport

The bus n°2 serves the plage des ondes.
