A selection of private beaches in the Var and in Hyères that are definitely worth a visit

We’re leaving behind the private beaches of Nice and the Alpes-Maritimes and heading for the incredible unspoilt beaches of the Var. In this region, there are no pebbles – just sand, to keep your feet as soft as possible. From Hyères to Le Lavandou, via La Londe-les-Maures and Pampelonne, here are some of my favourite spots to enjoy a day with your feet in the sand.

1. Le Marais Plage in Hyères

Situated on Ceinturon Beach, Le Marais’s private beach is a popular spot for its lovely setting overlooking the Mediterranean. People come here to relax on a sun lounger, have lunch by the sea and take the time to live at the southern pace of life.

2. Le Plan Beach at Les Salins d’Hyères

3. Saliniers Beach in Hyères

Set in the unspoilt surroundings of the Hameau des Pesquiers, the private Saliniers beach offers a more peaceful and comfortable experience. The sun loungers are fitted with premium mattresses and the setting is particularly relaxing.

4. Petit Sud in Toulon on Mourillon Beach

Head to Toulon and the Mourillon beaches with Petit Sud, a spot right on the sand that offers a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Situated on Anse Mistral, the restaurant offers lovely views of Toulon Bay and the Mourillon beaches. People come here to enjoy a deckchair or lilo for the day, but also to have lunch overlooking the sea.

5. Les Canetons in Cavalière, Le Lavandou

Les Canetons is a long-standing favourite in Cavalière. It features a cosy private beach, sun loungers and Mediterranean cuisine in a friendly atmosphere.

6. Les Sables d’Or in Cavalière

Also in Cavalière, Les Sables d’Or charms visitors with its family-friendly atmosphere and comfortable sun loungers facing the sea. The restaurant also offers the chance to have lunch right on the beach.

7. La Voile Plage in La Londe-les-Maures

On Miramar Beach, La Voile Plage offers a friendly atmosphere with a Mediterranean restaurant and sun lounger hire. It’s the perfect spot to have lunch with your feet in the sand before heading back to enjoy the sea.

8. L’Orangerie Beach on Pampelonne Beach in Ramatuelle

It’s hard to talk about the private beaches of the Var without mentioning Pampelonne. In Ramatuelle, L’Orangerie offers a chic yet relaxed atmosphere, with sun loungers, pool mats, a restaurant and a bar right on one of the most famous beaches on the Côte d’Azur.
