Metropolitan Club Cap 3000 or Metropolitan Club Iconic: which one should you choose in Nice?
When looking for a premium gym on the French Riviera, two venues often come up in conversation: the Club Metropolitan at Cap 3000 and the Club Metropolitan Iconic in Nice.
I’ve been a loyal member of the Cap 3000 Club for many years (it’s become a bit like my second home in Nice), and this membership also allows me to use the Club Metropolitan Iconic up to three times a month. As I love sharing my experiences, it was only natural that I wanted to tell you about my experience at these two clubs. Because even though the prices are the same, the experience on offer is actually quite different.
So, Club Metropolitan Cap 3000 or Club Metropolitan Iconic: which one is right for you?
Club Metropolitan Cap 3000: space, light and a sense of escape
As soon as you step through the doors of Club Metropolitan Cap 3000, what strikes you immediately is the sense of space. Personally, I feel as though I’m taking a deep breath of fresh air. The rooms are spacious, natural light floods in from every direction, and the large floor-to-ceiling windows offer an exceptional panoramic view of the Mediterranean, the Cap d’Antibes and the hills of the Col de Vence. From the terrace, the view is simply incredible. You can admire the sea and enjoy superb sunsets. It’s a real treat to be able to finish your workout in such a setting. Whenever I bring friends and family along, they’re always amazed by the openness and the views the club offers.
Very comfortable facilities
The club also has very spacious changing rooms. They’re so spacious that they almost feel like you’re in a top-of-the-range hotel.
The spa is another real highlight. It features several areas dedicated to relaxation, as well as sun loungers both indoors and outdoors. After a workout, I love to settle down for a few minutes to recover or simply enjoy the view and the sunshine.
The gym is modern, pleasant and well-equipped for most members.
A coworking space with room for improvement
As a freelancer, the co-working space was the main reason I joined the Club Metropolitan Cap3000. Having tried out all the coffee shops in Nice, finding a permanent base in a co-working space was essential. And I absolutely loved the club’s co-working area. As an added bonus, once my working day is over, all I have to do is get changed to start my workout.
On the other hand, it’s still very much part of the club’s overall atmosphere. When certain group classes, particularly the Cross MET sessions, are in full swing, the music can be heard loud and clear right into the workspace. To stay focused, headphones become almost essential. Personally, I sometimes find the volume a bit too high. It’s a shame because the setting is magnificent and could be an even more pleasant place to work with better soundproofing.
Important note: parking is free for just 3 hours. So it’s best to come by public transport if you want to spend the day there.
Club Metropolitan Iconic Nice: the choice of efficiency
In contrast, the Club Metropolitan Iconic offers a more urban experience.
Located right in the heart of Nice, just a few minutes’ walk from the station, it is extremely easy to get to. Whether you arrive by train, tram or on foot, its location is a real asset for Nice’s working population. From the moment you arrive, the atmosphere is completely different from that of Cap 3000. The spaces are more compact and the whole place is slightly less bright. You lose the spectacular sea view, but you gain in practicality.
From the club’s terrace, however, you can still enjoy a lovely view of the city of Nice and the hills of Mont Boron.
A co-working space designed for work
If there’s one area where, in my opinion, Iconic has the edge over Cap 3000, it’s coworking.
The workspace here is much better designed and separate from the gym. The environment is quieter and more conducive to concentration and productivity. Personally, when I have a busy day or work that requires intense concentration, I often find myself naturally heading to the Club Metropolitan Iconic because I work better there. For entrepreneurs, freelancers or remote workers, this can be a decisive factor.
A more comprehensive gym
Another notable advantage is the fitness area.
The equipment seems to me to be more extensive and of a higher standard than at Cap 3000. Regular weight-trainers or those who like to vary their workouts will appreciate this difference. The club also has several rooms dedicated to sports activities, whereas Cap 3000 has only one, which means it can offer more group classes.
A simpler but effective wellness area
When it comes to recovery, the Club Metropolitan Iconic notably offers a sauna. The wellness area is less spectacular than that at Cap 3000 but is still a pleasant place to relax after a workout.
The staff: a common thread
I’ve always been made to feel very welcome at both clubs. I go so often that when I forget my wristband, I don’t even need to give my name anymore, haha. At both clubs, the staff are friendly, approachable and attentive. That’s one of the reasons why I always feel so at home at the Club Metropolitan.
So, which one should you choose?
The truth is, there’s no wrong choice. Both clubs offer premium services for the same price. Ultimately, it all depends on your priorities.
Choose Metropolitan Cap 3000 if:
- You love wide open spaces.
- You need plenty of natural light.
- You enjoy unobstructed views and the sea.
- You’re looking for a particularly pleasant spa.
- You enjoy spending time on an exceptional terrace.
- You place great importance on the setting and the overall experience.
Choose Metropolitan Iconic if:
- You regularly work remotely.
- You’re looking for a genuine co-working space.
- You prioritise efficiency and productivity.
- You work out regularly.
- You’d like access to more sports facilities.
- You’re looking for a central location in Nice.
My personal view
If I had to sum it up in one sentence, I’d say that Cap 3000 satisfies my need for space, whilst Iconic satisfies my need for efficiency.
When I want to take my time, enjoy beautiful light, an inspiring view and an environment that almost feels like being on holiday, I choose Cap 3000. When I need to work for several hours, make progress on my projects or make the most of my day between appointments and a workout, I much prefer Iconic.
Ultimately, the two clubs meet different but complementary needs. And that is perhaps their greatest strength: each has its own distinct identity. One invites you to escape and relax, the other to focus on performance and productivity. The best choice will therefore be the one that best suits your lifestyle and your current needs.
Membership for both clubs
There is a membership option that gives you access to both clubs so you can enjoy both atmospheres. The price is naturally higher, at €200 per month.
